Saying Thank-You With White Papers

thank_you_card1.jpgWe all know the importance of saying “thank-you”, and according to the Stephen Spencer Scatterings blog, it’s even more important with an email newsletter, a webinar, or special offer.

In his blog post entitled “Make the most of your ‘Thank You’ pages”, he takes a quote from MarketingSherpa where they describe the importance of confirming online participants with a thank you message that features a white paper or other offer:

“When a prospect signs up for a webinar — or a white paper or newsletter for that matter — be sure to include more hotlinks or offers on the ‘Thank you’ page they see right after submitting their registration. Prospects are in the perfect mood right then to learn more about you, so they may click on links for white papers or other offers. Why not deepen the relationship right then?”

Saying thank-you is difficult for many of us, so to help out and provide an idea of what such a response should look like, he’s posted a sample thank you email that he received after signing up for the Apple Developer Connection newsletter:

SUBJECT: Thank You from the Apple Developer Connection

And while it’s true that we all need a little “thank-you” every now and then, it’s even more important for our existing customers and future prospects. So say thanks the next time someone downloads one of your white papers. You never know where a little “thank-you” will eventually lead.
